You can create full-featured mailing lists in seconds by using the control panel.
Just press the "mailing lists" button to add a list, or delete existing lists.
After creating a list:
To subscribe to the list, send a blank message to: listname-subscribe@yourdomain.com
To unsubsribe, send a blank message to listname-unsubscribe@yourdomain.com
To send a message to the list, send it to listname@yourdomain.com
If you do not have a domain, your list will be called username-listname, and you would access it as username-listname@llamacom.com. For example: bob-chat-subscribe@llamacom.com
The mailing lists are run by a program called "ezmlm." There is much more information about it in the ezmlm FAQ.
You can also make simple announcement-type mailing lists by creating a file in your home directory called .qmail-name and filling it with email addresses, one per line. Any mail sent to name@yourdomain will go to all of those addresses. If you don't have a domain, the address will be username-name@llamacom.com.
